Joshua Garvey

LCPC, LPHA

I have been working in the mental health field for over a decade, including 7 years as a professional counselor. While I’ve spent the majority of my career working in impoverished and under served communities, I have a diverse range of experience working with people of all ages and backgrounds, in various settings. I have worked with clients struggling with a wide range of concerns, from adjustment disorders to more serious mental illnesses such as psychosis. However, I have a particular passion for helping people manage their depression, anxiety, and trauma. In addition to my therapy work, I work as a clinical supervisor, mentoring and empowering clinicians to finds their voice within evidence based practices.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, including my three rescue pets; as well as reading, travelling, podcasts, soccer, and playing video games.

Joshua’s approach to helping you find your own inflection point.

in·flec·tion point (noun)

  1. A point of a curve at which a change in the direction of curvature occurs.

  2. A time of significant change in a situation; a turning point.

What in your life could take a turn for the better?

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or trauma, you have taken an incredible step in searching for a therapist for support. Countless people have times in their lives where they feel stuck, overwhelmed, and unsure about how to move forward; therapy can be a great first step toward positive change. I specialize in helping people reclaim and redirect their energy towards more joy, growth and connection in their lives.

My practice gravitates towards therapies that seek to create awareness around thoughts, behaviors and values, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), with a psychodynamic lens to explore past experiences and the ways in which they shape you. Through exploration of yourself and your formative experiences, you can gain clarity about your present self, fostering a radical new space for growth.
